CWG VAK COMPACT water softeners are the perfect solution for households struggling with hard water and the effects of limescale. SOFT-VAK water softening systems prevent common water problems, including limescale (or scale) made of calcium carbonate and other aggressive minerals such as iron and magnesium. These deposits cause hard water, which dries out skin and hair. When one of these devices is installed in a home, it works to soften the water coming out of every faucet, reducing or completely eliminating these aggressive minerals.
How does the CWG VAK COMPACT softener work?

Too much limescale in water not only reduces its quality, but is also responsible for calcified pipes and appliances, for example in dishwashers and washing machines. Without a water softening system, appliances lose their performance over the long term, leading to their failure. Compact water softening systems in a compact design stand out in particular with their narrow, space-saving construction, as the ion mass container and control unit (control head) are built into a compact housing as a salt container.
The Compact water softening system works according to the ion exchange process, i.e. it exchanges the “hardness minerals” calcium (Ca 2+ ) and magnesium (Mg 2+ ) with sodium ions (Na + ). In the process, it removes limescale from your water.
The Compact system consists of a housing with a removable movable cover. The structure integrates a GRP container filled with high-quality ion exchange resin. The system housing serves as a container for tableted salt for the regeneration of the device, where it prepares a brine solution and can accommodate a salt supply (15 – 60 kg max. depending on the device model).
How the COMPACT SOFT-VAK 15 softener works
The device works on the principle of ion exchange. Hard water passes through a high-quality ion-exchange resin that binds calcium (Ca²⁺) and magnesium (Mg²⁺) ions — the minerals responsible for limescale formation — and replaces them with sodium ions (Na⁺). The result is soft water at every tap in the home. Hard water enters the device and passes through an ion-exchange resin. Maintenance and salt consumption
Maintenance is reduced to occasional refilling of tableted salt in the tank. The device prepares the salt solution and performs regeneration itself, so there is no need for daily monitoring. Softer water extends the life of water heaters, washing machines and heaters because it prevents the accumulation of scale, which directly reduces breakdowns and energy costs.
